It's 7:40PM and I haven't had any time to myself. Just as I'm about to start work, the niece invades my room and now I have to make friends with her toy penguin.

Being invited to escape into a 6-year-old's imagination is a welcome break from the day's hardships*. 

There was a brief moment where I felt like, you know what, I want to live long enough to see this kid succeed in life.

I see now why people give up everything to have kids. It must be nice? But only for the first 12 years or so?

*I'm full-time caregiving for two elder parents solo, in a different country from where I'm normally based. One just had a major surgery. The other is somewhat disabled. In case you're new here. Hi. 

Somehow manage to eke out a few solid hours to fulfil the day's client work.

I am very tired and very grumpy. As a matter of fact I'm writing this at 4:00AM on 31 Oct. Today's caregiving ordeal was an eye opener. I can see now why people give up on their dreams. When real life bashes you in the head over and over again, everything becomes bleak.

Trying my very best to stay strong.
