I'm ashamed to see that I first started working on this site a whole year ago. But! Better slow than never ((he consoles himself)). The important thing is that it's finally ready, and I can:
  • pick a skill
  • learn in public
  • document my progress

Picking a skill
I've dreamt of "making money online" since the early 2000s. I tried many things in my spare time, while working full-time. Nothing lasted. 

When I sold my last brick & mortar business in 2019, it was my chance to get serious about making Wi-fi Moneyâ„¢. I doubled down on learning to code and how to do marketing.

The goal is to invest 10,000 focused hours on studying & building & selling on the Internet. And by the end of it, make a steady $10,000 a month. 

Malcolm Gladwell created the "10,000-hour rule" in his 2008 book Outliers: The Story of Success. It posits that to get good at anything, one must spend 10,000 hours practising. He took this idea from Anders Ericsson's research about deliberate practice. Gladwell turned the research into a simple rule that people remember.

Documenting my progress
I bought Ryan Kulp's 10K Hours, a Ruby on Rails changelog boilerplate that tracks time- and dollar-spent on a project. Then I modified it to track time-spent and dollars-earned instead. The result is this website you're reading.

Where do I begin?
Now, the big question: Do I kick off the logs from today and let the past be? Or dedicate Sundays to backfilling old journal entries? The latter feels more truthful since this '10k to $10k' journey began a while back.

Guess I'll decide next week.
